VETS OFFERING FREE MICROCHIPPING FOR DOGS

Tue, 10 Jun 2014

Members of NDWA and colleagues at Local Authorities are being asked to bear this FREE campaign in mind and share it with partner agencies and dog related organisations to help spread the word.

With microchipping set to be made compulsory for all dogs in England by 6th April 2016 and in Wales by 1st March 2015 it is estimated that 20 of all dogs in the UK remain un-chipped and with a compulsory requirement for all dogs to have a microchip, demand for the procedure is likely to be significant.

Dogs Trust is running a FREE Microchipping Through Vets Campaign to offer owners the opportunity to microchip their dog free of charge through vet practices.

At the moment 1,500 plus practices have already joined the Campaign and it is hoped that as many as 75 of the 3,075 vet practices in England and Wales will have signed up in the next few weeks. The Campaign will run until 31st March 2015.

To find participating vets in their area, members of the public can call the Microchipping Through Vets hotline on 0845 366 0073 or 0330 123 0334. The information is available at: www.chipmydog.org.uk.
